The primary purpose of this dataset is for use in developing a species conservation and monitoring plan for the areas of San Diego, California which burned during the Cedar and Otay fires of 2003 or the Witch Creek, Harris, and Poomacha fires of 2007.
Vegetation quadrate surveys were conducted by the USGS as part of a post fire monitoring project in San Diego County. The dataset contains spatial and temporal information on species detections. Dataset includes detection records from 2008. Accuracy of individual data fields have been reviewed and data collection efforts are ongoing. METHODS A 50 meter, linear transect, centered on the central pitfall bucket of the drift fence array, is used to characterize the habitat associated with each array. Every five meters along the transect, all plant species within a one meter quadrate are recorded. A total of 10 quadrates are documented along the transect. Each plant species is only reported once per point.
