trail cameras, UC Berkeley, wolves
University of California Berkeley installed trail cameras in June 2024 in a grid across Northern and Northeastern California to detect wolves, sympatric carnivores and native prey to understand spatial and temporal patterns of these species.
Wolves are recolonizing their former range in Northern and Northeastern California. University of California Berkeley and California Department of Fish and Wildlife are collaborating to understand wolf behavior and space use via trail cameras. This camera grid, which will be deployed from June 2024 to June 2026, will provide information to understand wolf recolonization.
