Summary

All CDFW staff can view a map of camera locations, and associated project information, in Wildlife Insights. There is no easy way to search for cameras within a specified area or time interval, however, which is why we have created a BIOS layer. This layer will be updated annually.

Description

Locations where California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) staff or partners have deployed camera traps as well as the associated project name, administrator, and deployment dates. This data layer represents all camera data that is currently available on Wildlife Insights, the departments platform for storing, processing, and managing camera data. Camera locations are depicted at the scale of the USGS 7.5 minute topographic quad. For exact camera locations and the corresponding image data, contact the project administrator and they can add you to their project on Wildlife Insights.
