This data was collected by Julie Garcia and Sara Holm. It consists primarily of GPS way points collected from Lotek Iridium Track M GPS collars equipped on 34 female mule deer in Amador, Calaveras, El Dorado, Nevada, Sierra, Placer, and Plumas Counties, California. These deer are from the Salt Springs, Railroad Flat, Grizzly Flat, Downieville-Nevada City, Bucks Mountain-Mooretown, and Blue Canyon deer herds. The data was collected from 2018-2021.
This dataset was created to aid in the Central Sierra DCU deer population estimate. Due to low sample size, winter range and migration corridor designations likely exist apart from what was mapped here, as this collaring project was not specifically intended to capture high-use migration routes and winter ranges.
