This data was collected by Tim Kroeker. It consists primarily of GPS way points collected from ATS or Tellus collars on California mule deer in the San Joaquin River watershed, Fresno and Madera Counties, California. The data was collected from 2013-2016. The data submitted to LMAC was full locational data sets for telemetered deer. The data submitted to LMAC was formatted for use in ArcMap. Fields not relevant to mapping were deleted from some data sets for ease of use in ArcMap. Collar serial numbers are typically numeric. Serial numbers with an alpha suffix indicate the collar was on multiple deer and the suffix separates data sets to individual deer.
The data set was created to learn about the movements of migratory deer in the San Joaquin river watershed.
GPS collars seem to be taking a location about every 6 or 7 hours. Sometimes they took a fix every 12 hours and other times they took a fix every 2 hours. Tim said collars were supposed to be programmed to take 2 fixes a day while on their winter range and summer range, and 4-5 fixes a day when theyre migrating.
