The Laguna Mountains skipper (Pyrgus ruralis lagunae) was listed as endangered by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in 1997. Historically, this skipper was found in the Laguna Mountains and on Palomar Mountain; however, it is thought that the skipper has been extirpated from the Laguna Mountains. Due to its conservation tatus and observed reduction in distribution, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service contracted with San Diego State University to further study population sizes and habitat requirements of the skipper.
This data represents Laguna Mountains skipper ( Pyrgus ruralis lagunae ) adult observations collected by Marschalek or David Faulkner for a Section 6 funded project. Each record (row) represents a single individual. The location was recorded with a handheld GPS unit with an accuracy of 5 meters.
