Burrowing Owl, biota, environment, CA, California
These data were collected for the purpose of Burrowing Owl population estimation and analysis.
These data represent Burrowing Owl observations recorded during a 2006-2007 survey of the entire breeding range of the species in California, except the Channel Islands. Visual observation data points were collected by volunteers and Institute for Bird Populations field crews following methodology established in a 1991-1993 study authored by D.F. DeSante and colleagues (see: "The distribution and relative abundance of Burrowing Owls in California during 1991-1993: evidence for a declining population and thoughts on its conservation").
