This dataset was developed for the SR-11 and Otay Mesa East Port of Entry environmental studies.
Vegetation mapping was conducted as part of environmental studies conducted in State Route 11 and Otay Mesa East Port of Entry areas in San Diego County. The work was conducted by HELIX Environmental Planning, Inc. for the California Department of Transportation. In 2006, areas that were previously surveyed (in 2000, 2004, and 2005) were revisited and the vegetation community boundaries were updated as necessary. In some cases parcels were not surveyed because they were already developed or permission to enter was not granted. Biological resource mapping for those areas were produced from previous surveys, viewing from a distance (using binoculars), and/or aerial photography. Use of this data layer should limited to informational and preliminary study purposes only.
