WHAT THE DATABASE WAS DESIGNED TO DO. It is meant to document and describe the known distribution of fishers in California. HOW THE DATABASE WAS DESIGNED TO BE USED. It was designed to be used as a historical record of fisher distribution and as to indicate known and possible areas of fisher presence.
These data represent historic Pacific fisher observations in California. TIME PERIOD COVERED. These observations span the period of time from the late 1800's to the 1970's. NUMBER OF RECORDS. There are 619 observation records. GEOGRAPHIC EXTENT OF THE RECORDS. These records are from the coastal mountains north of Sonoma County to Oregon, across the northern part of the State, and south through the Sierra Nevada. BASE DATA STRUCTURE. A dBASE data file. WHAT EACH RECORD REPRESENTS. The database has fields for who made the observation, when it was made, and where it was documented, for the location of the observation, and what was observation and how it was observed.
